On the weekend of April 3rd/4th, 2021 Andrea and I took the train from Tokyo to Mito, where Tony Boys met us and took us to his home town of Hitachiomiya.

Tony was a contemporary of mine at WHS, though starting a
few years later. He has lived in Japan for 45 years, is an
expert on local history, the Karen people of Thailand and lots of other things and is also a published author (see here) currently doing translations and rewritings of various kinds. We had a lovely weekend of typical Japanese hospitality and reminisced over various delicious meals and during walks and visits. Here are some souvenir photos.
